Easy Wreath Cookies; 12 Days of Cookies

Day 2; Love on a Plate 12 Days of Cookies

Phew, I made it, I’ll bet you thought I was going to miss Day 2!  Nope, I’m in just under the wire, but, we have a Easy Wreath Cookie from my Half Homemade Series.

While I love a home made cookie recipe, especially if it has a great family story to go with it, sometimes you just want something quick and festive and tasty.  Something you could likely make with your kids, but still take as a hostess gift.


These Easy Wreath Cookies are just that recipe.   The base of the cookie is the half not homemade part, and the decorating is THE homemade part.  Perfect for a fun activity with kids of all ages.  A quick trip to the bulk barn to stock up on all things holiday, or a visit to Amazon for some fun festive decorations is also quite fun as part of the preparations.

  • 1. Pull apart one strand of Twizzler Pull ‘n’ Peel and place on a microwave-safe plate. Cut strands in half across the middle. Heat in the microwave on high for 10 seconds or until the candy can be easily shaped.
  • 2. Carefully shape the strands into bows and place back on the microwave-safe plate. Heat again for 10 seconds and then carefully press the bow together using a toothpick. Remember, the candy will be HOT. Allow to cool completely.
  • 3. For easy clean-up, line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or waxed paper. Cover with a baking rack. Lay out cookies with enough space between that they do not touch.
  • 4. Remove lid and foil from frosting container. Heat in the microwave on high heat for 30 seconds. Stir well. Repeat in 15 second intervals, stirring each time, until the frosting has melted to a stirrable consistency.
  • 5. Cover half of the cookies with the melted white frosting. Use a spoon or spatula to spread and cover each cookie. Quickly add sprinkles as desired while the frosting is still melted because it will harden slightly as it rests. Press a Twizzler bow into place.
  • 6. Mix green food coloring to the remaining frosting until you reach the desired shade of green. The frosting might need to be reheated slightly. Continue decorating the remaining cookies with frosting and sprinkles. Press a Twizzler bow into place.
  • 7. Allow the frosting to set completely before serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze until needed.
