This delicious Instant Pot Split Pea with Ham Soup is a filling enough for a meal on it's own, but I like to serve it with warm crusty sour dough bread. The he perfect soup for a cool winter day, and take only 30 minutes from start to finish.

Ingredients
3Tbspolive oil
1large oniondiced
2large carrotsdiced into 1/4 inch pieces
2stalks celerysliced in 1/4 inch pieces
1large clove garlicminced
2whole bay leaves
2tspThyme
2cupsHamcubed
8cupsHam stockor chicken stock
2cupswater
Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
Set your Instant Pot to Saute on medium. Add onions, carrots, and celery, saute 2-3 minutes.
Stir in Thyme, Bay Leaves, black pepper, minced garlic, and diced ham. Saute 1-2 minutes.
Reset your Instant Pot to Pressure Cook on High. Pour in Ham or Chicken stock, water, and then split peas. Do not stir; this keeps the split peas from settling to the bottom and potentially causing the BURN notice.
Cook for 17 minutes, don't forget to make sure your steam vent is closed. Once cooked, let sit for 10 minutes on Natural release, open the vent and carefully release any remaining steam.
Open the pot, stir and season to taste with additional salt and pepper and enjoy!
Notes
Adjust the soup to your tastes:Too Thick? Add in additional water or stock and stir until desired consistency is reached.Too Thin? Set the Instant Pot to Saute on LOW, and let simmer until reduced to desired consistency.The Cook time noted include coming to pressure, pressure cooking time and natural pressure release time.
